Nissan Pathfinder Review Australia

If you are looking for a roomy and capable SUV,  the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder is a decent choice. It is perfect for families who want three-row utility and impressive towing capacity. Pathfinder Nissan is also suitable for bringing along outdoor toys on trips and tours. Previously, the first generation Nissan Pathfinder was the first choice of people who wanted a big family car that was capable of towing and going off-road. But with the arrival of the fourth-generation Pathfinder, everything changed. Now, the new Nissan Pathfinder has changed its focus from being an off-roader capable of towing to a comfortable cruiser that can carry seven passengers in comfort.

The fourth-generation Nissan Pathfinder’s earlier versions had issues with their Jatco continuously-variable transmission (CVT). On the other hand, the latest versions, including the Nissan Pathfinder S-TL, Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and Nissan Pathfinder N-Trek, have resolved these issues and added some extra equipment too. In this article, we will go through the specifications of the Nissan Pathfinder N-Trek. Let us dig into the Nissan Pathfinder review now!

Nissan Pathfinder engine:

The Nissan Pathfinder is powered by a strong 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine. This engine produces 202kW of power and 340 Nm of torque. It runs on 91 RON unleaded fuel and consumes 10.1 litres of fuel per 100km.

Upon testing a mix of city, highway, and country driving, the results ended at around 13L/100km.

The engine is coupled with the continuously-variable transmission (CVT) and works really well. Although the continuously-variable transmission often hits peak torque but doesn’t sound overly trashy inside the cabin.

Nissan Pathfinder exterior:

The Nissan Pathfinder N-Trek pack has a menacing look, making Pathfinder look more mafia family than just family. The N-Trek edition gives Pathfinder a more sinister look.

The N-Trek edition of the Nissan Pathfinder basically comprises cosmetic additions to the car, including:

✓ A black V-shaped grille

✓ Black licence plate trim

✓ Black door handles and wing mirrors

✓ Black roof rails

✓ Black and silver 18-inch alloy wheels

✓ A silver lower front guard

✓ Wider 255mm tyres

The Pathfinder N-Trek special edition is a seven-seater SUV available in four colours: grey, Caspian Blue, Ivory Pearl, and Diamond Black. Our favourite is the grey one as it adds up to the looks of the Pathfinder.

Exterior specs of the Nissan Pathfinder:

The outside of the Nissan Pathfinder ST-L includes the following standard equipment:

✓ 18-inch alloy wheels

✓ A front sunroof and panoramic rear glass roof

✓ Radar cruise control

✓ LED daytime running lights

✓ Automatic headlightS

✓ Automatic windscreen wipers

✓ Privacy glass

✓ LED headlights

✓ Rear parking sensors

✓ A 360-degree reverse-view camera

✓ Roof rails

Nissan Pathfinder interior:

The interior of the Nissan Pathfinder is known for its practicality. The interior has plenty of space as well. You will get good head, shoulder and elbow room up front. Even people with good height can sit comfortably behind the driving position. The third row is also very spacious. You can sit on the rear seats without getting your knees touched to any of the seatbacks.

All three rows have directional air vents and large windows that make sitting in the car more comfortable for everyone. The second row is raised above and allows a view over the top of the driver and co-pilot. Due to the overly elevated floor in the Pathfinder, the knees of second and third-row passengers are placed higher. If the third-row seats are up, then the boot space is almost 453 litres. By folding the third row, you will get up to 1354 litres of boot space. Even under the boot floor, you can get extra space storage.

The cabin storage has 10 cup holders onboard. Two of them are present up front, four are present in the second row, and the remaining four are in the back row.

In addition, the cabin also includes:

✓ A deep centre-console storage bin

✓ Large door pockets

✓ A tray in front of the shifter

There are 12-volt and two USB outlets upfront for charging and media. The second row also has two USB charging points and a media USB port.

The infotainment system of the Nissan Pathfinder is outdated. The display, the buttons, even the graphics, each part of the infotainment system lag behind the time and the rivals as well. The Nissan Pathfinder also does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This implies that you will pretty much be stuck with the old system of Nissan.

Nissan Pathfinder specs:

Inside the cabin of the Nissan Pathfinder, you will get the following:

✓ Leather seats with heating

✓ Three-zone climate control

✓ Seven seats

✓ Keyless entry and start

✓ Power steering column adjustment

✓ An auto-dimming rear vision mirror

✓ An 8.0-inch touchscreen

✓ Satellite navigation

✓ A 13-speaker Bose sound system

How safe is the Nissan Pathfinder?

In 2013 the Nissan Pathfinder was first tested by the ANCAP. In that test, Pathfinder scored a five-star safety rating. Although the testing criteria have transformed since then, the same rating can also be applied to this version of Pathfinder. In that testing, the Nissan Pathfinder scored 35.73 out of a possible 37 points.

The Nissan Pathfinder has the following advanced safety technology:

✓ Automatic emergency braking (AEB)

✓ Blind-spot warning

✓ Rear cross-traffic alert

✓ Adaptive cruise control.

✓ Rear parking sensors

✓ Rear-view camera

For child safety, in the second row,  you’ll have two ISOFIX mounts and three top-tether points. In addition, the third row has a third top-tether point in the right-hand-side seat.

Nissan Pathfinder price:

When it comes to the pricing of the Nissan Pathfinder, the prices range from $43,888 for the basic trim level to $65,990 for the top of the range.

✓ The V6 engine of the Nissan Pathfinder delivers strong acceleration with decent fuel economy.

✓ The third-row seating of this SUV has easy accessibility.

✓ It has a robust towing capacity.

✓ Even the base level of the  Nissan Pathfinder includes automatic emergency braking and rear parking sensors.

✓ The Cargo capacity of the Nissan Pathfinder is below average.

✓ The Nissan Pathfinder offers less roomy third-row space than some competitors.

✓ For some drivers, the ride quality of the top trims might be too firm.

The final verdict!

Overall, we can say that the  Nissan Pathfinder is a seven-seat SUV that is a combination of comfort and practicality. In addition, the special edition N-Trek provides this SUV with a stylish and robust look. Before buying, know that the investigation has portrayed that unique edition cars generally don’t have much resale value, so do consider this factor before making your mind. If you are ready to enjoy the N-Trek’s unique look, then ensure that you know all about its history.
