Toyota Fortuner 2021 Review Australia | Features, Specification, Price

Toyota Fortuner 2021 Review Australia

The new Toyota Fortuner is based on the famous Toyota HiLux ute. This seven-seater is a severe 4x4 off-roader wagon with numerous family-friendly specifications and a practical presence.

In order to stand firm against its rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Everest, and its own sibling, the Toyota Prado, the Toyota Fortuner 2021 was updated with numerous changes that were specifically designed to keep this wagon above all others. If you want to know if these changes are worth spending money on, then keep on reading!

Toyota Fortuner engine:

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner comes with an upgraded 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This engine produces 20kW of power and 50Nm of torque, more than the 2019 model. The total energy that this engine makes is 150kW of power at 3400rpm and 500 Nm of torque between 1600 and 2800rpm. It is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddles. It has a switchable four-wheel-drive system that comes with high- and low-range 4×4 and a locking rear differential. In addition to this, three driving modes are controlled with the help of buttons that cause changes in the throttle response.

Toyota Fortuner exterior:

Toyota Fortuner's GX, GXL, and Crusade variants have a fresh exterior styling. This unique styling and design give the Fortuner 2021 a 'meaner' aesthetic.

Changes in the Toyota base variant include the following:

Updated front end

✓ A larger black grille

✓ Restyled lower front bumper

✓ Slimmer Bi-LED headlamps

✓ New tail-light design

The GX and GXL variants have the same 17-inch alloy wheel, and on the other hand, the  Crusade model comes with newly designed 18-inch rims.

Toyota Fortuner interior:

On the inside of the Toyota Fortuner, you will get plenty of HiLux bits. This includes the following features:

✓ Telescopically-adjustable steering wheel

✓ Carried-over buttons and stalks

✓ Gear shifter

✓ 4×4 dial

✓ Climate control cluster

✓ Centre screen

✓ Front tweeters near each side mirror

✓ A-pillar grab handles

There are a few thighs in the Fortuner that makes it different from the Hilux. The screen in Toyota Fortuner 2021 is nicely placed into the dash and is flanked by padded knee inserts. In addition to this, the fortune also incorporates blue analogue gauges, moved drive-mode buttons, a padded instrument binnacle cover, and a padded upper glove box cover. Like Toyota's typical fashion, the inside is solid and made up of good quality. On the interior of Fortuner, you can expect to get rock-solid switchgear and some pampering squishy contact points as well.

The wheel has dark woodgrain trim on it, and there are dust-prone glossy black inserts all over the fascia.

On the front, you will get the following:

✓ Two gloveboxes

✓ Super handy pull-out cup holders

✓ Outboard vent

✓ A decent centre console

✓ Bottle-ready door bins

✓ JBL sound system

Although the touchscreen-based infotainment system comes with button shortcuts, it doesn't feel particularly modern. This infotainment system offers navigation and phone mirroring or streaming.

When it comes to the interior, it should be noted that it has plenty of legroom in the second row, even for someone with a tall height. But the headroom and toe-room are a bit tighter at the back.

The passengers in the middle row get the following features:

✓ Air vents in the roof

✓ Cup holders

✓ Coat hook

✓ Foldable grab handles

✓ Both 12V and 220V sockets

The third seating row is a handy option to have. If you have children, you can use this row for kids on an occasional basis.

Final verdict!

We can describe the Toyota Fortuner 2021 as a wolf in sheep's clothing. The reason behind it is that the Fortuner has all the features of a premium SUV, including space, comfort, and convenience. At the same time, its rugged underpinnings portray it as an enthusiastic off-road explorer that is ready for any journey and any adventure. The new features and improvement of the Fortuner ensure that it will survive and thrive in the harsh climate of Australia. It is an affordable choice for people who want to own a LandCruiser, and if you're the sort of person who knows that they need serious off-road capabilities, then the Toyota Fortuner might be just the thing for you.
