Porsche GTS Cayenne Review Australia

Although Porsche has a big brand appearance, yet the Porsche car brand is a smaller brand than the others.  In the early parts of the 1990s, it went away forever, but it could not make enough worldwide sales. This way, the brand could not sustain itself well. With the introduction of the Porsche Cayenne, the automotive world was turned upside down and inside out. Porsche GTS Cayenne is a  family-focused, five-seat SUV that shocked the brand's diehard devotees. It immediately proved to be a brilliant idea as it quickly drew the attention and interest of fresh, young, and eager buyers!

Porsche GTS Cayenne engine:

The Cayenne GTS runs on a Porsche 4.0-litre V8 engine, 'VarioCam' variable valve timing, an all-alloy, 90-degree unit featuring direct injection, a pair of twin-scroll turbos for optimal packaging and short gas paths for quick spool up. These things combine to produce 338kW of power from 6000-6500rpm and 620 Nm of torque from just 1800rpm to 4500rpm. Eight-speed' Tiptronic S' (torque converter) automatic transmission provides the drive to all four wheels.

Porsche GTS Cayenne exterior:

The  Cayenne has substantial measurements that keep it from the over-size, seven-seat SUV territory. The measurements of GTS Cayenne goes like this: 4.9m long, 2.0m wide, and 1.7m high. The GTS version is offered in two models one is a five-door coupe, and the other is a more conventional wagon.

The GTS has liberally been given the 'SportDesign' treatment. It has a body-coloured front apron with a spoiler attached, specific side skirts, satin black wheel arch mouldings, and a rear apron. The Rims are also finished in the satin black and 21-inch' RS Spyder Design' area.

The broad bonnet of the Porsche GTS Cayenne features a raised 'power dome' section in the centre. It has business-looking side window trims and twin dual-tube tailpipes that come in a high-gloss black colour. In addition to this, the GTS Cayenne's large air intakes on either side of the prominent grille accompany active flaps to provide adequate cooling and aero efficiency.

The air curtains of the Porsche GTS allow air to escape from the front wheel arches and accelerate it. This helps it to 'stick' to the car in order to reduce turbulence. The underbody of the Cayenne is almost wholly covered to cut drag. Also, the tailgate has an integrated roof spoiler that helps with stability.

Porsche GTS Cayenne interior:

Like other standard SUVs, the Porsche Cayenne GTS interior has a similar look. The interior of the Porsche GTS Cayenne is a good start, to begin with. The model under review has amazing features like a stainless steel door entry guard with the GTS lettering. There is also badging on the seat's headrests and the rev counter. The exterior also has stylish badging.

On the interior of the most prominent part of the Porsche, GTS Cayenne has the Alcantara used generously on the following:

✓ Roof lining

✓ Seat inserts

✓ Centre console

✓ Door armrests

The GTS interior package offers a nicer contrast and decorative stitching. You can get decorative stitching in either Carmine Red or Crayon for the dashboard, seats, centre console, doors, and seatbelts.

The Porsche GTS Cayenne is a combination of sporty and comfortable cars that fulfil the vehicle's primary purpose. The seats of the GTS are pretty comfortable and have reasonable bolstering that will hold you tight when moving fast. It has good storage around the cabin, but the lack of a wireless phone charger is a bit on the offside of the road.

The infotainment system that this version uses works pretty damn well. It comes along with a super crisp screen. The unique thing about the screen is that it presents very little glare, even in direct sunlight. The default system is programmed to do most of the tasks. For some functions, you might need the availability of Apple CarPlay to make it even better.

The Bose sound system of the Porsche GTS Cayenne is very punchy and bass-heavy. Still, it could have better clarity than other brands' systems. In addition, there are no issues now, so we can use smartphone mirroring without any effects. The boot space of the GTS is also reasonable, which is 741L.

Porsche GTS Cayenne safety:

Although ANCAP hadn't assessed the Porsche Cayenne, when it was tested in 2017, it scored a maximum of five Euro NCAP stars. And the GTS version also plays a solid safety game.

The active safety tech that the Porsche Cayenne GTS includes the following:

✓ ABS

✓ ASR

✓ ABD

✓ Porsche Stability Management (PSM)

✓ MSR (engine drag torque control)

✓ Lane change assist

✓ Blind-spot warning

✓ ParkAssist (front and rear with reversing camera and 'Surround View')

✓ Tyre pressure monitoring

✓ Trailer stability management

Porsche GTS Cayenne price:

Based on the trim level one chooses, the price range of the Porsche Cayenne varies. The starting price of the GTS is at $121,300 and goes to $336,100 for the latest model.

Pros:

✓ It has a stupidly quick powertrain

✓ The V8 burble and note are hard to ignore

✓ Accompanies great interior and technology

✓ It has dynamic performance

✓ It provides excellent comfort and is very practical

Cons:

✓ The brakes of GTS can feel underwhelming

✓ The active safety features of the Porsche GTS are not standard

✓ It is not as aggressive in appearance as some rivals

✓ It is a bit thirsty-ish

✓ Provides average warranty

The Final verdict:

If we have to describe the  Porsche Cayenne GTS, it is fast, practical, super-comfortable, beautifully engineered, and dynamically outstanding. The only drawback that we found to worry about is the lack of safety equipment. Other than that, it is an excellent option for people who want a combo of family and sports cars! For a superb SUV experience, the Porsche Cayenne GTS is the proper fit, with snippets of 911 regularly filtering into it. If you decide to make such a big purchase, ensure a clear history.
