Nissan Qashqai Review Australia

The Nissan Qashqai is a compact SUV that actually paved the way for small SUVs that you see around you nowadays. Its initial launch had resulted in many raised eyes and quizzical looks, but it emerged as a brilliant idea for a car. Soon, rivals and imitators started to follow the lead. If only we would have known.


At the time when the first-generation Qashqai was revealed, the SUV craze was just beginning. It was a gamble to put out a car of this size and standard. And the gamble paid off. Together with the Hyundai Tucson and the Kia Sportage, the Nissan Qashqai was able to create an appeal and demand for compact SUVs. Proof that Nissan had struck the right chord. Over the years, the Nissan Qashqai has been seeing further improvements and is now better than ever.


Right from day one, the Qashqai was a success. In its six-year lifecycle, Nissan continued to lead the class, thanks to the Qashqai. It was family-sized, delivered a decent performance and affordable. Today, after more than a decade since the Qashqai came out, things are still looking great. The Nissan Qashqai has been in production since 2006, by Nissan. They have named it as a compact crossover SUV. The first generation was sold as the Nissan Dualis in Australia, while in other markets it was called Qashqai. The second generation, which is the current one, was revealed in 2015. The second generation is sold throughout the World as the Qashqai, except for the US. In the US, it is marketed as the Nissan Rogue Sport.



The Nissan Qashqai is available in two petrol and two diesel engines, respectively. The two petrol engines are a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The smaller engine is capable of producing 113 bhp of power while the latter can output 160 bhp.


The first diesel engine is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder, with 109 bhp. While the second is a 1.6-liter 128 bhp. All four engines use the same standard six-speed manual transmission. But you can also opt for the CVT for the 1.6-liter diesel variant. It is also available as a four-wheel-drive if you want to go for one.



The previous model was a thick plastic box inside, despite everything else. The Nissan Qashqai 2019 is unquestionably more upmarket. Starting off the workaday scramble for a sleeker, shinier structure unmistakably impacted by late opponents from Korea and Germany.


Aided along by outstanding comfort, the front seats are fantastic. Trims and Features:

You also get adaptive cruise control, chassis control, decent infotainment system, and manual air conditioning.


Next in line is the Acenta trim. You get additional luxuries such as six speakers, 17-inch alloy wheels, power mirrors. There are auto lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, and front fog lights, all as standard.


You can also choose to go for the N-Connecta or the Nissan Qashqai TI which is a notch higher when it comes to technology. It is fitted with Nissan’s smart vision pack which is equipped with high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, emergency braking, and parking sensors. You also get 18-inch alloy wheels, sports front seats, keyless entry, and matte silver roof rails. The infotainment system consists of a 1-inch touchscreen display, with satellite navigation, DAB radio, and a 360-degree camera.


Things get even better as you move up to the Tekna trim. As part of the deal, you will get leather upholstery, adjustable driver’s seats, heated front seats and LED headlights. Also included are 19-inch alloy wheels, eight-speaker Bose audio system.


The trim level also includes Nissan’s Safety Shield plus technology. You get added protection with the blind spot warning, moving object detection, intelligent park assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. The top of the range trim is the Nissan Qashqai Tekna+ which gets Nappa leather seats which are just superb. You also get glossy silver roof rails and a panoramic sunroof. Along with all the features from the Tekna.
