Lexus is a Japanese luxury brand that has a clear identity and recognition all over the world. Since 1998 they have been selling the best midsize luxury crossover SUVs that are called the Lexus RX range. It is a luxury division offered by Toyota. The RX range has four generations that have been produced to date. The first generation was compact in size, and the latter three were classified as mid-size. The 2020 RX range is available with three different powertrains and three different trim levels. In this article, we are going to discuss the 2020 Lexus RX300. It is the base model of the RX large SUV range, so does it imply that it misses out on tech, equipment, or grunt? To find the answer, read on!
Lexus RX300 engine:
The Lexus RX300 2020 comes with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This four-cylinder engine provides the RX300 with a completely different feel. This powerful engine produces 175kW of power and 350 Nm of torque and is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Lexus RX300 exterior:
The exterior of the Lexus RX300 has a spindle grille and a jewellery-like appeal. The sharp edges that this SUV has makes it look like a carved gemstone, but the only thing that bothers most people is the vehicle's proportions. The door-to-window ratio of the RX300 is a bit off. The door gets too much space. Besides that, everything about the Lexus exterior intrigues the consumers. Its craftsmanship and the attention paid to the details and the material used has made this SUV intriguingly stylish and pretty.
As this model is the base model, so it comes with smaller wheels than the rest of the rage, but what makes it more remarkable are the following exterior features:
✓ Roof rails
✓ Dual chrome exhausts
✓ A roof-top spoiler
✓ Rear privacy glass
The measurement of the 2020 Lexus RX300 is 4890mm in length, 1690mm in height and 1895mm in width. When all the seats are folded up, the total luggage capacity in the Lexus RX300 is 453L. If the second row is flooded, this increases to 924L.
Lexus RX300 interior:
The interior of the RX300 is impressively spacious. It is a five-seater SUV that has a practical and spacious cabin. The entry to the RX300's back seat has a big doorway whose value can only be understood by the parents. Wide opening doors make it easy for the children to climb into the seat, and the parents can also easily buckle them up.
The car has a flat floor that makes it easy for everyone to scoot across from one side to the other. It also has plenty of head and legroom in the back seats. Even a tall person can comfortably enjoy sitting in the back seat.
The storage on the front is way better than on the back. On the front, you get huge pull-out door pockets, a large centre console bin and two more cup holders. On the back, you get two more cup holders, a fold-down centre armrest and small door pockets. When measured to the top of the second-row seat back, the cargo capacity that the RX300 boot has is 506 litres.
On the front side, there is a wireless charger in the hidey-hole of the shifter, and there are six USB ports onboard as well. The rear passengers have two of their own in the back of the centre console, and the rest are upfront. The front has a climate control system, but the second row doesn't have it. Instead, the second row has directional air vents back that workouts well over the 40C days of summer.
The technology is a little bit offside. The media system is impractical. The way to use a trackpad in order to navigate around the screen is not straightforward. To use the sat-nav, one has to hurdle a lot. Other than that, the layout of the display menu as well is non-intuitive and confusing.
Lexus RX300 standard equipment:
The Lexus RX300 Luxury comes standard with some fantastic features, including the following:

Lexus RX300 safety:

✓ Nighttime pedestrian detection
✓ Daytime cyclist detection
✓ AEB system
✓ Adaptive cruise control
✓ Lane-trace assistance
✓ Road-sign recognition
✓ Reversing camera
✓ Blind-spot monitor
✓ Rear cross-traffic alert
In addition to the above, the Lexus RX300 also has ten airbags, along with an auto high beam, front and rear parking sensors. There are two ISOFIX points, three top-tether mounts for car seats, and a comprehensive safety package that includes a spare wheel round off.
Lexus RX300 price:
As mentioned before, the 2020 Lexus RX has three different powertrains and three different trim levels. The price for the base, front-wheel-drive RX300 ranges from $71,920 before on-road costs.
Pros:
✓ It is excellent value-for-luxury
✓ The design and style are intriguing and look pretty
✓ It has a spacious cabin
Cons:
✓ It has an awkward touch-pad media system
✓ The RX300 has a shorter warranty when compared to other brands
✓ It provides a wobbly ride over speed bumps and city streets
The final verdict:
If you are looking for luxury but at an affordable price, the Lexus RX300 is what you need. This SUV is of great value, superbly comfortable, and accompanies a high level of fit and finish. Although the four-cylinder engine is small, it can make plenty of grunts and handle daily duties perfectly. If you plan to buy one of the Lexus RX300, ensure that you have all the past history.
