Well, that was still not enough for the brains in Germany. They decided to include the Competition Package to the M6, which further increased the power output by 11 kW.

The BMW M6 coupe was the base model body style. It was also available as a convertible and fastback sedan, also known as ‘Gran Coupe’. The production of the M6 ceased in 2018 when it was replaced by the BMW M8 in 2019.

History:

This was a similar engine that was applied to the BMW M1 supercar. In many parts of the World, it was known as the M635CSi, but in the US and Japan, it was simply called the M6.

The car would generate 210 KW of power and 340 Nm of torque. The North American and Japanese versions of the car also included a catalytic converter. The catalytic converter was included in the rest of the engines after 1987. The model features a five-speed manual transmission.

There was a long gap of fourteen years, after which the M6 was reintroduced in 2005. It was called the BMW M6 V10, for the engine, it applied. The M6 was the version for the E63 and the E64 6 series. It was introduced as a coupe as well as a convertible. It produced 294kW of power and could reach 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds.

Motorsport:

In 2015, the Motorsport department at BMW started the development of a new racing car. As a replacement for the BMW Z4 GT3, which had been around for some years. The M6 was taken as the base model and they started building on top of it. There was a special emphasis on safety features. The motto was to produce a car that was FIA approved and in accordance with the latest safety features. Hence, the BMW M6 GT3 came to be.

The previous Z4 GT3 was based on the BMW M3 engine. However, the new M6 GT3 was more or less the same as the production model of the M6. There were slight modifications in place in regard to the motorsport events.

The first test for the BMW M6 GT3 was in the 2016 Spa 24 Hours event. Needless to say, the car graced the event with a victory. It went on to success in various championships around the world, including the VLN, Super GT Championship, and the Italian GT Championship.
