Audi TT RS Review Australia
Four interlaced circles, a sleek shine and a remarkable speed are all it takes to recognise an Audi. It is one of the most recognised car companies around the world. It is a viable competitor for the likes of Honda, Toyota and BMW. Owning an Audi is an automatic confidence boost and earns one certifiable respect. Audi’s reliability, high-quality and luxurious manufacturing are just the tip of the iceberg. Audi manufacturers always give the people what they want. It has a wide variety of extravagant, well-built and powerful cars. Audi has supplied some of the best products in various countries. These countries include China, Brazil, America and Australia.
Audi has experienced much success with various sports car lineups and among the best lies the Audi TT series. This particular series of sports cars has made record sales since its debut. Many users rank the cars in this series in their top ten lists of sports cars. This series is named after the prestigious British Isle Man TT race.
The “TT” is also affiliated with the phrase “Technology & Tradition”. It is perfect considering Audi manufacturers have always taken great care to honour their roots and made high-tech cars with up-to-date features. With such a strong make-and-model at its back, the second-gen Audi TT RS adds incredible value to this series.
Audi TT RS:
In this article, our main focus will be highlighting all the specifications that make Audi TT RS so incredible. The TT RS first debuted in 2009 at the Geneva Auto Show as the world’s first ever compact sports car. Looking for a high-end sports car that doesn’t break the bank? Well, look no further than this top-of-the-line car fulfilling all your high performance needs. And, that is also at a shockingly reasonable price point. It was released in two classic variants; Coupé and Roadster.
We have seen continuous upgrades in the engine quality, design and performance every year. This car was so popular that people actually petitioned to have it in the market in the US.
Audi TT RS 2020 Model
The 2020 model for instance, had a brilliant interior with a tech-forward cabin. Its all-digital driver’s display, and extremely comfortable leather seats are the highlight. The exterior was adorned with Audi’s trademark Quattro four-wheel-drive system. It has a constant velocity joint and an upgraded rear-axle differential to cope with its five-cylinder turbo engine’s torque. Additionally, its exhaust sound was straight out of a racer’s dream.
Audi TT RS 2021
The model that we will be focusing on is the TT RS 2021. This beautiful car packs a mean punch for its compact size and really upgrades its driver’s racing experience. Its build is aggressive, indicative of the fact that this beauty is not for the faint of heart.
The TT RS sports a 394-hp Inline-5 turbocharged 2.5-liter petrol engine. The maximum torque that this engine produces can go as high as 354 lb-ft. The torque is coped with a 20-valve DOHC with Audi valve lift system. Furthermore, this engine can reach up to an exciting speed of 155 mph with an acceleration level of 0-60mph in only 3.6 seconds. That’s a lot of speed!
Transmission and Performance:
With a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this baby will make sharp turns within a millisecond. The all-new seven-speed clutch hits differently as compared to its competitors, such as the Porsche 718 Cayman, which has a six-speed clutch. TT RS’s handling is smooth and effortless. Once you punch it, this car will take you through dimensions. This car is quite multi-functional and can perform in whichever area you want, be it daily driving or sport driving just on the press of a button.
With a light electromechanical speed-sensitive power steering and low centre of gravity, this car’s balance and control exceeds many of its competitors. Its sizable standard 20-inch Quattro wheels with 245/45 ZR18 tyres make the ride even smoother and less bumpy. The suspension system with a MacPherson strut suspension (with RS tuned Audi magnetic ride) in the front and four-link suspension in the back upgrades its shock absorbance to the next level for a streamlined drive. Additionally, the magnetic ride is a standard.
Don’t worry, even if you’re going very fast; this car’s electromechanical brakes including two-piece cross-drilled front discs will keep you quite steady. This car was designed with comfort and function in mind; it fulfils your routine needs and racing desires to the max.
Interior and Exterior:
This car is the word “classy” manifested in physical form. It’s available in 10 different colours from Ice Silver to Panther Black. Although the exterior is designed to look powerful and aggressive, it holds a sophistication that balances out the machismo. It constitutes a lightweight construction technology - fully galvanised steel with aluminium hood and front sub-frame including multi-step corrosion protection which adds to its streamlined sleek finish. It has black integrated inlays on the lower sides with black door mirrors. Its back wing makes it look like it can fly. Tail lights are OLED and the exhaust is an Audi classic; oval-shaped pipes. Lastly, its rear diffuser is an honourable mention, which is an RS exclusive. And this is only the exterior.
Let’s talk about the high-tech cabin and tech-forward aluminum-finish interior. You’ll notice the single digital driver’s display makes you feel like you’re operating a plane’s cockpit. The driver’s seat is fully in control; music, satellite navigation, Bluetooth support all with buttons on the steering wheel. The leather seats make this four-seating ride very comfortable.
Due to its compact size, however, this car is suited for 2 people only. The back seats can be folded to make room for additional cargo though. The turbine-shaped air vents provide effective climate control, and you also get the utility of key and cup-holders between the front seats. Legroom and headroom for the front are incredibly generous allowing you to relax and be in an optimal position for the drive.
With such an extensive design and high-tech features, one might wonder the expense that such design even takes. Well, that’s nothing to worry about because this supercar is very reasonably priced at 95K-100K AUD depending on upgrades and optional add-ons. Alternatively, a used Audi TT RS can be purchased for around 85K-90K AUD, again depending on usage and upgrades.
“If you're looking to go supremely fast, supremely quickly, but don't have supercar money, the Audi TT RS is a highly accomplished offering. Its blistering performance is seriously impressive, and it's fun to drive. You also benefit from a suite of tech which is intuitive and useful, plus those clever climate controls.”
“Powerful turbocharged five-cylinder, tech-forward cabin, standard all-wheel traction. Parked alongside killer sports cars such as the Chevrolet Corvette and the Porsche 718 Cayman, the 2021 Audi TT RS looks appropriately aggressive and expensive.”
“It was almost too good to be true. Audi’s wonderful, charismatic and hugely potent turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine mounted under the crisp Bauhaus nose of the TT – two of Audi’s most distinctive icons brought together in one desirable package.”
With all its tech-forward designing, the Audi TT RS is a great addition to the Audi TT series. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in performance. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a supercar for the excitement of the drive but also for routine functioning at a reasonable price, the Audi TT RS is the way to go.
