I am sure you've got a list of plans for the summer of 2021. If not, what are you waiting for? Summer comes with dozens of fun plans and activities which will make your entire year a memorable one.
It might be a simple day at the beach, picnic with a friend, swimming at the pool. Amongst all, a road trip is the best thing that summer brings. But, there's one thing you need to keep in mind, it's to remain safe from the summer heat.
For extreme heat always follows summer, which might harm you in unwanted ways. Here we have assembled three easy tips that will help you have a memorable summer driving experience.
Checking the wipers and windshield:
Before you set out on a long drive, you need to make sure that your wipers and windshield are in an intact state The windshield is responsible for maximum sun protection. The windshield will not only protect the passenger from the direct heat but will also keep the inside of the car cooler.
Haze and dirt stuck on the windshield make the sun glare stronger and even obstructs the view. For which, you will have to clean the outside and inside with a good quality cleaner while doing so, even check for cracks.
Similarly, do check out if the wipers are in a clean and workable state, especially if you have a used car. A broken wiper might scratch your windshield and obstruct visibility while on the road. A good wiper will also come in handy while driving during sudden rain or wind.
Sun protection:
While it is essential to take care of your vehicle during summer, taking care of yourself is more important. Summer at times causes tan, while at times it might cause a serious sunburn. The level of skin damage also depends on the skin type.
People with lighter skin are more prone to sunburn than those with darker skin. Similarly, people with olive skin experience tan but rarely get sunburns. Regardless of your skin type, it is necessary to wear sunscreen with adequate SPF to protect your face and body. Along with that, also carry scarves, hats, or caps with you to minimize sun exposure. Polarized sunglasses are also essential while driving during summer.
Hydration:
During hot and humid atmospheres, we lose a lot of body fluid in the form of sweat. At times extreme heat can cause sudden heat strokes or dehydration, which is why staying hydrated is extremely important.
So, while on a long drive, don't forget to carry a bottle of water with you. Moreover, carrying chilled water in an insulated bottle can prove extremely beneficial. If you can't make yourself drink enough water, then you can add a sweetener or natural fruit flavor to make your drink flavourful.
